UBA Supports Creative Industry with REDTV’s New Series Assistant Madams

REDTV, the foremost lifestyle platform powered by the United Bank for Africa, has just launched its new and very much anticipated series, Assistant Madams. Creators of the hit series, The Men’s Club, REDTV has been engaging and providing opportunities for talented youths in the creative industry in Africa, since its inception.

The crème de la crème of the entertainment industry gathered at the prestigious and newly opened, Ebony Life Place in the bustling city of Lagos, to watch the premiere of Assistant madams. The story revolves around the life of three aspiring female Lagos socialites and their journey to ‘big girl’ status.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Producer of REDTV, Bola Atta said  “REDTV was birthed by the United Bank for Africa, to support the creative industry in Nigeria and also across the African continent. For about four years now, we have been creating employment through entertainment. The potential revenue that can be generated in this industry is often under estimated and it is only in recent times that more people have had the courage to leave traditional professions and embrace the creatives. We want to encourage talented and creative professionals to pursue their dreams and to confidently feel that they are contributing to economic growth’.

‘The vision of UBA is to support entrepreneurship across Africa and through REDTV, the bank is connecting African talent to the world. REDTV will continue to harness these talents and to provide opportunities for those who wish to pursue careers in the creative industry’ Atta said.

Also speaking at the launch of Assistant madams, Co-producer and director, Tola Odunsi and Akins Akinkugbe expressed their delight at the reception which the new series is receiving. ’’We are pleased to partner with UBA and REDTV to create top quality content and jobs. Assistant madams alone employed over 120 people during the filming of the series and this is significant’.

In attendance at the event, were Chris Ubosi, Mo Abudu, veteran photographer Kelechi Amadi Obi, Sola Sobowole, Patrick Doyle, Noble Igwe, Juliet Ibrahim, Toke Makinwa, Uru Eke, Obi Asika, Koye Sowemimo, Debola Williams, Sharon Ooja, Bollylomo,  Funke Babs Kufreji, Obi Asika, Bisola Aiyeola, Osas Ighodaro, Tana Adelana, Sophie Alakija, Taymesan Emmanuel, Ayo Ayoola, Efa Iwara, and many noteworthy entertainers.

Assistant Madams will premiere on Youtube @itsredtv on January 15, 2020.

Reactions Trail Arrest Of Cross Dresser, Bobrisky

Cross dresser, Idris Okuneye popular as Bobrisky has been arrested.

Bobrisky was arrested by police officers in his Lekki home and whisked to an unknown destination.

His arrest has not been isolated from his lifestyle choices. There are those who believe that aside from being a cross dresser, Bobrisky is also gay.

However, mixed reactions regarding the arrest have also been pouring in with some people commending the police for arrest, while others have kicked against it saying that there are more serious issues bedevilling the country.

Recall that in 2019, the police shut down the cross dresser’s birthday party leading to waste in drinks and food prepared for the shindig.

Why I Had To Fix My Eyes- Mike Ezuruonye

Thespian, Mike Ezuruonye, has detailed the experience he went through in surgery while fixing his eye.

According to him, surgeons spent eight hours fixing his eyes due to growth which had encroached into the pupil of both of his eyes.

Blaming the situation on harsh movie production lights, he revealed that doctors advised that he should undergo surgery to prevent permanent damage, adding that he is grateful for the gift of sight.

Advising people to spend less time staring at phones and laptops screens, Ozuruonye said that they would be at risk if they continued.

He wrote: “Forgive being Reluctant but just had to share…Many don’t know what we go through in the course of our work (FILM MAKING)…

“After Surgery, for over 8 hrs, I was without sight as my eyes were Demanded Tightly Closed, Tightly Shut by the Ophthalmologist Team of Doctors…Hmmm…

Will Mercy Eke Survive Nollywood?

Fans of the Nigerian movie industry popular as Nollywood have reacted to the debut of reality show star Mercy Eke into the industry.

Eke made her debut via Toyin Abraham’s soon to be released movie titled Fate of Alakada.

Fate of Alakada is a sequel to Abraham’s highly successful comic franchise Alakada which first, second, and third edition tagged Alakada Reloaded went on to be in a class of it’s own, raking in up to 70 million Naira at the cinema.

Eke’s debut also features social media comedian Broda Shaggi. Unveiling Eke as one of the stars of the movie, Abraham took to social media Instagram to write:

“Thanks my darling @official_mercyeke for coming onset, fam watch out for @official_mercyeke in Fate of Alakada in cinemas 10th April 2020.”

While news of the acting career of the winner of the 2019, Big Brother Naija reality show aptly tagged Pepper Dem Gang has been greeted with positive vibes, there are also those who have questioned the likelihood that she would make it as an actress.

Asides the fact that she is a greenhorn in the industry, she is not known to have acted in any movie, with her roles in front of the camera being as a vixen.

All of the doubts will, however, be put to rest or otherwise when Fate of Alakada hit the cinema on April 10.

Eke has been recording a lot of positive feats since winning the show, signing several endorsement deals.
