Traditional Ruler Beheaded Over Sharing Formula Of Derivation Fund

Obi Okwudiki Odumodu, the traditional ruler of Asamokwu Community, in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State, has been killed.

Obi Odumodu was reportedly beheaded following a dispute over sharing formula of a derivation fund.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, February 10, in Asaba.

According to the PPRO, the monarch was beheaded on Thursday during a crisis that erupted between his community and an adjoining village over the sharing formula of a derivation fund from an oil company situated in their environment.

“It was community crisis. They are dragging allocation that came from one of the oil companies in that area. The monarch was killed at the point of argument between his community and an adjoining community over the sharing formula of a derivation fund. The communities are having disputes over the derivation. The two factions are having a disagreement.

Edafe said that efforts are ongoing to restore normalcy in the community, adding that no suspects have been arrested.

It was also gathered that the incident has resulted in tension in the community.

Punch had earlier reported that the hoodlums that beheaded the monarch also ambushed four soldiers and killed three on the spot while others who sustained injuries were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre Asaba.
