Temple Management Company Drags Iyanya To Court

A  contractual mess between Temple Management Company (TMC), and musician Iyanya has seen the later landing in court.

TMC, a talent management and events outfit under which Iyanya was briefly signed dragged the singer to court.

According to report, the suit was instituted against Iyanya by men of the Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) Ikoyi, Lagos, before an Igbosere High Court in Lagos State, following an allegation of car theft.

The  ‘Kukere’ singer was arraigned before Justice Mobolanle Okikiolu-Ighile following the charge brought against him on March 15, 2019.

Iyanya’s arraignment was severally adjourned following his failure to appear in court. However, he appeared on February 4, after the presiding judge  threatened to issue a bench warrant.

Arraigning the singer, prosecutor, Chukwu Agwu, a superintendent of police, informed the court that Iyanya dishonestly converted to his use or of another person a Black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Jeep marked MAVINIY, giving the details of the Chassis and Engine numbers as: JTEBX7FJ7EK165480 and 2TR1385954 respectively.

Agwu told the court that the said vehicle belonged to Temple Management Company Limited.

The prosecutor informed the court that Iyanya committed the offence sometimes in September 2018, and that the offence is contrary to Sections 278 (1) (b), 279(1) (2) and punishable under Section 285 (10) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Following his not guilty plea, the court released the musician to his lawyer Williams A., who promised to produce him in court at the next adjourned date.

The matter has been adjourned till February 27 and March 17, for both ruling on his bail application and trial.
