The legitimacy of the election of Senator Ademola Adeleke as the governor of Osun State has been substantiated by the Supreme Court.
Recall that Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was declared winner of the Osun State Governorship election in 2022.
However, Gboyega Oyetola, the incumbent governor contested the election at the state election tribunal in Osogbo, Osun State and was declared the winner of the election.
Adeleke proceeded to the Appeal court where he won, while Oyetola went to the Supreme Court to contest the legitimacy of the Appeal Court judgment
Delivering judgment on Tuesday, a five-member panel of the apex court held that the court of appeal correctly reinstated Adeleke as governor.
