Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable has slammed Nigerians celebrating the exploits of the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the ongoing 2023 African Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles have been impressive in the tournament taking place in Côte d’Ivoire.

They defeated South Africa on Wednesday, February 7, in the semi-final to qualify for the final of the tournament against Côte d’Ivoire, eliciting excitement across the nation.

However, in his reaction to the celebration by Nigerians, Portable mocked those celebrating.

He wrote, “You have not eaten, you are shouting ‘Goal!, up Nigeria’.

In a video he shared online, Portable opined that Nigerians are meant to unite against the hunger and hardship in the country and not on football. He said the people celebrating the victory of the Super Eagles players have not eaten while the players have since received their salaries.

‘’My people, pray for Nigeria. Hungry wan kill us. You people should sit down and ask yourself ‘Why am I happy? Why am I dancing up and down? Have I eaten? Dollar has risen. Euro is running. Where is the Naira? You are not thinking about your life, you watching football, opening your chest. Your wife and children are at home, they have not eaten and you are shouting ’Goal! Goal!, Up Nigeria!”
