Shocker: Veteran Actor, Mr Ibu Not Dead-Family

A family member of veteran Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu has refuted reports that he is dead.

Monday Diamond Ani, a former aide and adopted son of the actor noted that he was rather in a critical condition receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of a Lagos hospital.

Ani, added that the report of Mr Ibu’s death is not true.

“My Boss and adopted Father isn’t dead please,” Mr. Ani said adding that “he’s currently in a Lagos hospital receiving treatment.”

Ibu, a native of Nkanu West local government area of Enugu State has been battling an unknown ailments which resulted in the amputation of one of his legs in November, 2023.

Report of his death which was confirmed by the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, on Saturday came as a rude shock, especially as the movie industry had just been hit by the sudden demise of another thespian name Sisi Quadri.

In a post on his Instagram page, Rolls wrote: “Sad Day for Actors Guild of Nigeria.

“Kate Henshaw lost her mother earlier today and Mr lbu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager for 24 years Mr Don Single Nwuzor.

“I announce with deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didn’t make it.

“May his soul rest in peace.”
