The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated the winner of the Lagos East Senatorial election, Tokunbo Abiru.

Abiru was declared the winner of the senatorial by-election which held on Saturday, December 5th after a landslide victory.

In a congratulatory message, Sanwo-Olu said Abiru’s victory was a testament to the fact that the people of Lagos still had confidence in the party.

Sanwo-Olu, who also congratulated the APC candidate for Kosofe constituency 2 at the state House of Assembly, Obafemi Saheed, said he was elated as a result of the victory recorded by the party with wide margins.

Commending those who voted in the election, the governor thanked chieftains of the APC for assisting to ensure victory for Abiru.

He said: “I want to congratulate Mr. Tokunbo Abiru and Obafemi Saheed on their victory in last Saturday’s by-elections in Lagos East senatorial district and Kosofe state constituency II polls. Your emergence as federal and state lawmakers is a validation of peoples’ confidence in our dear party, the APC.”

Further, the governor noted that from the commencement of the process, he never doubted that Abiru would be victorious in the election.

“The victory of the two candidates of our party in the by-elections clearly showed that APC remains a party to beat in Lagos, based on her achievements in the state since the beginning of the current political dispensation in 1999.

“The successive administrations in Lagos have put the people at the centre of its action, resulting in several people-oriented programmes. This has continued to manifest in the voting patterns in the state.”
