Relocation of Mechanics: Imo Govt Signs MoU with Avu Community

Imo State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the people of Avu autonomous community in Owerri West council area of the state to give way for the relocation of mechanics to the area.

Secretary to the Government of Imo State (SGI), Sir Jude Ejiogu who represented the state government during the signing of the MoU in his Cabinet Office, along Sam Mbakwe Road, Owerri on Monday, October 5th, 2015 commended the courage of Avu people for the dialogue, assuring them that government would do everything possible to make them benefit from the project.

According to Sir Ejiogu, government’s decision to build a permanent ultra modern mechanic village in Avu community was to make life meaningful for the people of the state, and as well decongest rate of human influx in the capital city thereby create job for the citizenry.

He therefore thanked them for their corporation, understanding and peaceful coordination they exhibited throughout the period of negotiation with the state government, pointing out that government would do a lot in return to appreciate their good gesture.

Speaking shortly after signing the MoU with the state government, Traditional Prime Minister of Avu autonomous community, Retired Major General Roland Ogbonna applauded the state government for actualizing the project that has lingered for several years, describing the present administration of Governor Rochas Okorocha as masses’ friendly.

General Ogbonna therefore commended the state government through the SGI, Sir Ejiogu for approaching the issue with vigour which according to him, was different from the actions of previous individuals who called on the community for the same purpose, but regretted that they were rejected by Avu people as a result of their bad approaches, while describing him as a man not only good in managerial assignment, but possesses the ability for sensitive task.

He assured the state government of their loyalty in ensuring that the project was accomplished, and pleaded with his people to rally support to the rescue mission administration of Governor Okorocha, while maintaining that Avu community would enjoy the project more than the government.
