Reactions have been trailing a statement made by the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Tinubu was quoted saying that the embattled Governor of Lagos State Akinwunmi Ambode who the Lagos House of Assembly had started an impeachment process against was free from impeachment.

He was quoted to have said this after a stakeholders meeting of the party stalwart on Sunday, February 4.

However, the statement has been frowned at, as many wonder if he is in the right place to have made the statement.

Arguing that the statement should have been made by either the Speaker of the House of Assembly or someone in capacity, Tinubu’s action has been questioned.

Questions such as if the National Leader was responsible for the impeachment process to have called it off have also been asked.

However, speaking with www.theoctopusnews.com, a House of Assembly source who did not want his name mentioned said such settlement and proclamation was not new. The source said “It is not out of this world. It is even done outside Nigeria. The party stalwart called for a meeting and the issues raised were discoursed and settled.”

Asked why the announcement that the coast was clear was not made by the Speaker, he said that the House of Assembly was sitting and would announce that the coast is indeed clear today.
