Police To Charge Portable On 6-count Charges

The Nigeria Police has officially confirmed that it would charge singer Portable to court.

Recall that officers of the Ogun State Police Command had tried to arrest Portable in what became a standoff before his father intervened an promised to bring the singer to the police before Friday, March 31.

The intervention saw the police giving Portable a 72-hours ultimatum to turn himself to the police or be arrested.

Upon the expiration of the 72-hours  ultimatum, the singer was arrested by men of the police and interrogated before being moved to the Ogun State Force Headquarters Eleweran, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

In a statement via Twitter, the Police Force Public Relations Officer( PFPRO), CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, said that Portable whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola will be facing at least a six-count charges when he appears in court.

Adejobi accused Portable of being of unruly conduct and inciting the police officers who came to arrest him.

The charges for which Portable will stand trial includes resisting arrest, injuring a policeman and beating up up and coming artiste, Manny Money in Ota, Ogun State.

Adejobi also added that there are other cases of assaults and attacks brought against Portable as other people have also complained. He concluded that the law is not sentimental and that a judge would hear the case and decide the outcome.
