Bayelsa youths have warned the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus against interfering in the forthcoming Bayelsa state governorship primary.

The warning was given by the PDP South South Youth Vanguard in Abuja.

The group specifically warned the PDP Chairman against subverting the party’s constitution to pave way for interest group.

According to the PDP Youth Vanguard, Secondus is working for the interest of the State governor, Seriake Dickson to manipulate the forthcoming primary.

In a statement, the National Chairman of the group, James Efe Akpofure stated that the party National Chairman is trying to subvert the party’s constitution to please the governor and some stakeholders.

His words: “The newly elected chairmen of Bayelsa State Local Governments are not qualify to contest the September 3 primary.

“The Chairman is supporting Governor Dickson to see if the chairmen can vote in the forthcoming primary against the Constitution of the party.

“This is not done anywhere. The chairmen were newly elected and the party Constitution does not recognize this abberation the governor and the Chairman are trying to bring on board.

“Recall that we have few weeks ago urged Governor Dickson to jettison the idea of preferred aspirant and recognised all the 21 aspirants.

“And we have also said that all the aspirants are all PDP members and as such should be treated equally and allow to go to the field and fight it out.

“This idea of trying to manipulate the party Constitution to please some people will not augur well for the party. It will only help to destroy the party on the long run.”

The PDP Youth Vanguard has, however, cautioned the party National Chairman to play a fatherly role in the forthcoming governorship primary.

Reacting to the allegations, Secondus said, “the allegation is baseless and unfounded. They may be ignorant of the party constitution otherwise they would have known that there is no way the National chairman can influence the out come of any congress.

“A committee headed by a state governor is conducting the congress and they are being guided by the party constitution and guidelines. Blackmail against the National chairman or any leader will not help the party unity.”

However, Secondus advised the group to go and work hard to deliver their preferred aspirant, adding that he had  no preferred aspirant any where.
