Lawmakers elected to the Senate on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have kicked against direct primaries ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The senators while contributing to the debate on Amendment on section 87 (1) on Tuesday, October 12, claimed that some political parties may not have the capacity to organise direct primaries.
Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe among other PDP senators spoke against the proposal by the Senate Conference Committee which is chaired by Senator Yahaya.
Recall that there had been reports that the Senate had approved direct primaries for all political parties.
