As far as Tee Billz is concerned, only the duo of D’banj and Don Jazzy have the right to take credit for making Afrobeat popular.

Reacting to a video of Dbanj’s electrifying performance at the ‘Afron Nation’ conert in Portugal, Tee Billz stated that the whole buzz around Afrobeats amounts to nothing without giving accolades to Don Jazzy and Dbanj.

“It’s funny how everyone is shouting AfroBeats to the world now and conversations are being held around the world without acknowledgement. Without the KINGS Dbanj and Don Jazzy there will be no Afrobeats blessings to you guys,”

In recent times, credit for making Afrobeat popular has gone to artistes including Wizkid.

However, the duo of Don Jazzy and D’banj played a major role in taking Nigerian music to the world.

Femi Kuti Confirms European Tour

Afrobeat musician, Femi Kuti has confirmed his tour of Europe.

The first part of the tour which was confirmed by the musician will see him performing in Europe between Thursday, March 26 and Saturday, April 4.

 

The tour opens at Leuven (BE)-Het Depot. The following day, Friday, March 27th, Femi Kuti will perform at Cully (CH) at Jazz Festival. Between 28th and 29th of March, he will be on stage at Garges Les Gonesse (FR)-Banlieues Bleues and Sedan (FR) MJC Calonne.

The ‘Sewere’ singer will also be performing at Stockholm (SE) Johanneshov-Slaktkyrkan on 31 of March, and will be at Oslo (NO) Cosmopolite on April 2, closing the tour the following day at Voss (NO) Vossa Jazz.

More venues for the tour are expected to be confirmed soon.

Reactions Trails Iyanya’s ‘For Your Love’ EP

Iyanya has released his much-anticipated EP.

Titled ‘For Your Love’, the extended play consists of four songs namely ‘Over You,’ ‘Believe,’ ‘Room 305’ and ‘Days Gone.’

‘For Your Love’ is Iyanya’s first body of work in a while and his first effort this year.

Recall that Iyanya parted ways with Ubi Franklin’s Made Men Music Group (MMMG), before announcing he had joined Mavin Records based on mutual understanding. He subsequently signed a management deal with Temple Management Company Limited before parting way with them.

Burna Boy’s Songs Have No Message, He Stole Many From Fela-Eedris Abdulkareem

Controversial singer, Eedris Abdulkareem, has attacked self-acclaimed African Giant, Burna Boy.

According to him, Burna Boy’s songs lack any message and he stole several songs from Afrobeat maestro Fela to become who he is today.

Speaking during an interview, Abdulkareem, wondered why Fela’s songs have messages, while Burna Boy’s had nothing in it.
