Operatives of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ebonyi State have arrested two men conveying 18,000 litres of suspected adulterated diesel from Enugu to Abakaliki.

According to NSCDC State Commandant, Felix Gbolade, the suspects were arrested on August 14 at about 8 am along Enugu-Abakaliki Highway, by the command’s anti-vandalism team.

He said;

“Our officers accosted them to explain the source of the product but they could not. When the product was checked, it was found to be off-specification with abnormal scent and colour.

“Investigation into the matter is ongoing and the suspects would be prosecuted.”

Gbolade who warned vandals and other criminals to leave the state as the command will make life unbearable for them, added;

“The state governor should be commended for ensuring adequate security in the state, but we should not relax because the state is peaceful now.

“The public should cooperate with us to sustain such an atmosphere because criminals are not spirits.

“We are exploring avenues of synergy with other security agencies to ensure adequate protection of lives and properties.”
