Nigerians have reacted with condemnation to the donation of a whooping sum of N500m to the Sokoto State government.
Recall that Rivers State Governor, Nyesome Wike had made the donation on behalf of the Rivers State government for the reconstruction of a burnt market.
The donation was made despite lingering dispute over the non-payment of pensions and gratuity to thousands of retired civil servants in the oil-rich Wike state.
Nigerians who have reacted to the donation have frowned at it, saying that the pledge was done to score cheap political goals.
“Wike should know that even if he pledges the whole of Rivers to sokoto, nobody will even look at him twice if he decide to contest come 2023,” a Twitter user wrote on Twitter.
