Nigerian Governors’ Forum To Set Up Security Committee

The Nigerian Governors’ Forum has resolved to set up a security committee at the National Economic Council level.

This resolve was made on Wednesday, June 19 during a meeting in Abuja.

The committee will monitor the increasing security situations across the states of the federation.

Chairman of the NGF, Dr. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State revealed this much to journalists shortly after the meeting in Abuja.

According to him,  the  forum also resolved to retain security as a recurring item on its agenda for the foreseeable future.

“The forum resolved to set up a security committee at the National Economic Council level and retain security as a reoccurring item on its agenda for the foreseeable future,” he said.

Further, Fayemi revealed that the decision was made in order to make security issue a going concern that must be harped on in every discussion among the governors with a view to finding lasting solution to the problem of insecurity.

Present at the meeting were governors of Ekiti, Sokoto,  Lagos, Borno, Kano, Osun, Plateau, Kogi, Kebbi, Ondo, Oyo, Kaduna, Ogun, Niger,  Jigawa, Gombe, Bayelsa, Nasarawa.

Enugu, Katsina, Zamfara and Imo states were represented by their deputies.
