The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has been handed N15.75 million by Mr Jim Ovia to support the yearly scholarship programme of the apex body of computer professionals in the country.

Ovia, who is also Chairman of Cyberspace Ltd, a Lagos-based Internet service provider had earlier made a pledge to the support NCS scholarship scheme at the 2015 edition of National Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA), the tech group says.

NCS says the Scholarship Scheme started four years ago is one of the corporate responsibilities to mentor and monitor Nigerian youths for ICT sustainability.

Ovia also promised automatic employment in Zenith Bank Plc or Cyberspace Ltd to any of the beneficiaries of the scholarship that graduates with Second Class Upper Division in ICT annually.

Under the plan, the scholarship fund will be awarded to 5 Phd Students, 10 Masters Degree Students and 20 Under Graduate Students across all categories of tertiary institutions in Nigeria. This will cover universities, polytechnics and Colleges of Education nationwide and students pursuing relevant courses outside the country.

Professor Adesola Aderounmu, President of NCS expressed appreciation to Ovia on behalf of the National Executive Council for the gesture and prayed that the Almighty God continue to uphold him.
