Speculation that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), is set for an out of court settlement with socialite, Pascal Okechukwu popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest is raising eyebrows.

The unconfirmed reports hit the airwaves on Thursday May 2.

Recall that on April 16, the socialite was arraigned on a three counts charge bordering on the abuse of the Naira at federal high court, Ikoyi, Lagos.

When the charges were read to him, the nightlife promoter pleaded not guilty, thus Justice Kehinde Ogundare, the presiding judge, thereafter granted him bail in the sum of N10 million with two responsible sureties in like sum.

The judge ruled that the bail conditions must be perfected within seven days.

Cubana was released to his lawyer who signed an undertaken to produce him later. The trial was adjourned to May 2 for continuation.

However, amidst reports of an out of court settlement, there have been questions such as why Idris Okuneye popularly known as Bobrisky who was earlier arraigned and sentenced to six months in jail for the same offense was not given a similar treatment.

The campaign against the abuse of the Naira was relaunched by the EFCC culminating into the arrest, prosecution and sentencing of Bobrisky.

He was jailed on Friday, April 12, to six months in prison for abuse of the Naira. The court did not give the cross dresser an option of fine despite the law making such provision.
