… Congratulates Umahi on His Sun Newspaper Award as the 2020 Best Governor in Nigeria
As reactions continue to trail the recent absurd call for Gov. Dave Umahi’s resignation as Chairman of the South -East Governors Forum,
Lady Monica Chidinma Ada Eze, President and Founder of David UMAHI … (DUNAETA) has joined analysts, political watchers and opinion leaders to make her mind bare on the trending issue.
In a statement made available to media houses, the youth leader expressed shock that a supposed enlightened Organization like INTERSOCIETY could make the blunder of demanding that Gov. Umahi steps down from the office of the Chairman of South East Governors Forum, an office he has used to reposition and project the common interest of Ndi Igbo and the unity of Nigeria remarkably.
According to Int’l Society for Civil Liberties & Rule of Law (Intersociety) in their misguided and unfortunate call, “Umahi has failed woefully as chair of Southeast Govs Forum and must step aside” citing that the Igbo lives & properties have become gravely unsafe, endangered and threatened on daily basis under Gov Dave Umahi’s chairmanship of the Southeast Governors Forum and other key political office holders representing the Home Land Igbo Nation.
As much as the group is entitled to their opinion in a democratic situation in NIGERIA, it pains to the marrow to learn that the group may be feigning ignorance over the good efforts made by Governor Umahi to address the issues and challenges facing the Igbo nation and to every sane mind, such sudden amnesia is grossly unfortunate and detestable.
For avoidance of doubt, let me reiterate that when the lives of Igbos were at stake at Obi-Igbo in Rivers State, Dr. Umahi mobilised both the South East Governors, Leadership of Ohanaze Ndi Igbo and other stakeholders to Rivers State and in the well publicised meeting with the Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike the Governors Forum under Umahi succeeded to midwife peace for the Igbos in Rivers State with their host State.
Before the assumption of office by Umahi as the Chairman of the South East Governors Forum Nigerians were aware that the Second Niger Bridge was in comatose state, the Enugu International Airport was in a sorry State, most of the Federal Roads in the South East was death traps but based on these challenges, Dr. Umahi saw it as a big challenge and embarked upon addressing these challenges by mobilising both the Governors, Traditional Rulers and Stakeholders to Aso Rock to visit President Muhammadu Buhari and presented before Mr. President these issues and today, both the second Niger Bridge is receiving adequate attention with the hope of completion before the end of the APC led administration.
Today, both the Onitsha to Enugu, Enugu to Port Harcourt and other Federal Roads are not only motorable but safe for motorists and commuters. The Igbos are equally happy with the state of the Enugu International Airport.
According to Lady Monica, Umahi has brought to the political front burner the neglect of the Igbo’s as regard the Presidency by joining the ruling political party at the centre, APC, and today through the political ingenuity and prowess of the Governor, the need for zoning the Presidency to the South East come 2023 has become imperative.
Let me use this forum to congratulate Governor Umahi on his recent nomination by the Sun Newspapers as the 2020 Governor of the year. This is an award well deserved and a proof that such past awards to Umahi were not fleak.
This Zik Award winner for leadership and described as the wisest Governor in Nigeria by Governor of Abia State, Ikpeazu. As the Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum he demonstrated capacity for leadership that his towering feats have brought peace and improved the relationship between the zone and the Federal Government. With his position as the Vice Chairman of the Southern Governors Forum and a great voice among his peers and colleagues the Youths need not go further in search for a capable leader to assist them actualise their mission and vision for Nigeria.
Apostle Umahi is a great Philanthropist who has used his Foundation, Akuburoah to touch the lives of the elderly and all segments of Ebonyians and offered scholarship to thousands of great youths of Nigeria.
Even an American supports his style of leadership. According to Mr. Paul Own an American from the city of California who communicated his thought through me postulated: “Umahi deserves to be the President of Nigeria come 2023 but sadly most Nigerians are blind”.
I just pray and hope that the Intersociety is not amongst the blind Nigerians.
Umahi’s feats in Ebonyi State has showcased him as the people’s leader as his remarkable feats within the past five years in areas of healthcare, education, security, agriculture, maintenance and dualisation of Federal Roads particularly, the Abakaliki to Enugu and Abakaliki to Afikpo Express Roads, Construction of the Biggest State Shopping Mall in Nigeria, prompt payment of salaries to civil servants and pension to pensioners, the infrastructural revolution, “Ebonyi is truly blessed with an enigma and innovative leader as her Governor that one can easily postulate that the modernization of Ebonyi State has been achieved in our lifetime through Apostle Dr. David Nweze Umahi.
She reiterated that Umahi has turned Ebonyi State into one of the best developed States in Nigeria and stressed that if all these feats by Umahi within this last five years are not enough to convince groups like Intersociety that Umahi is one of the best things that have happened to Ndi Igbo in recent times, then the group should no longer be taken seriously.
In another development, Lady Monica Ada Eze Aka Ada Ebonyi who also doubles as TA on Media to Governor Umahi described the allegation by PDP through the busy body Chief Ali Odefa, the Acting National Vice Chairman of PDP, in Enugu that Umahi has marked Anyim, Egwu, others for assassination as untrue.
The Technical Assistant said those very close to the Governor know very well that Umahi, as an Apostle of God detests evil and can never be linked to killing any human being let alone been involved in such a hilarious plot against any Ebonyian or her leaders like Senator Sam Egwu, Senator Pius Anyim and others as been peddled around.
Lady Monica called on Chief Ali Odefa, the Acting National Vice Chairman of PDP to desist from such a callous allegation and team up with the Governor towards sustaining peace and the ongoing efforts in making the State the pride of Nigeria.
She said the shoe left by Chief Austin Umahi as erstwhile National Vice Chairman of SE PDP is too big for Odefa to wear and called on him to calm down and take some tutorial from Austin Umahi to see how he can cope with the huge responsibility of sustaining the feats of Austin Umahi
