Marian Records boss, Naira Marley has said that he will return to Nigeria if the security agencies can guarantee his safety.
Naira Marley has been receiving serious backlash since the death of his former label signee, Mohbad.
Mohbad died under controversial circumstances on September 12, and since then, several videos of the musician being assaulted by people said to be associates of Naira Marley has seen the “Am I A Yahoo Boy” singer topping the list of people invited by the police to help their investigation.
In a recent interview, Naira Marley said he will come back to Nigeria for the investigation being carried out into the controversial demise of Mohbad, only if the security agencies can guarantee his safety.
In the interview with Reno Omokri, Naira Marley was asked if he is willing to come back to Nigeria. Responding, he said,
‘’100% if they can guarantee my safety. There are a lot of angry men that don’t want me there. They know the truth but they have been poisoned by the media. If they can guarantee my safety, I will be there”.
Reacting to videos of Mohbad being attacked and claims that he had a hand in the attacks, Naira Marley said,
‘’There is no truth whatsoever. Even if you look at his police statement, he never mentioned Naira Marley involved. I do not have any issue whatsoever with him. I have never instructed anybody to touch him. I have never touched him. You will never see a video of me touching him. I have never sent anybody to touch him. That is just lies.
Naira Marley also acknowledged that he is indeed friends with Sam Larry but that they have never had any encountered together with Mohbad.
Naira Marley said Mohbad was paranoid all the time and that he paid for the late singer to undergo brain scans but that Mohbad refused to follow through with his treatment. He claimed that Mohbad argued that his parents are the ones that will be able to help him.
‘’I did pay for a lot of scans and he that is what he wanted to do, get scanned and I paid for a lot of them. Like I said he is a little bit paranoid. I was trying to take it easy, trying to find out what’s wrong because remember, he had already made a video to say if anything happened to him, it’s Naira Marley. So I was just trying to find the best help for him. He did scan. I also spoke about if he can travel out to check properly. Then he said it is his mum and dad that will understand what was wrong and then his mum and dad said they wanted to take him for treatment, they want to take him to go look after him’
Naira Marley who denied claims that DJ Splash was signed to his label said,‘’DJ Splash was never signed to Marlian music. He is a DJ. He has never DJ’d with me on a show. They just gave him a title because I have a picture with him. When whatever happened to him happened to him, he was not at my house.”
