Meet Edo State New Deputy Governor, Omobayo Marvellous Godwin

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has been quick to announce Omobayo Marvellous Godwin as his new deputy governor.

Recall that the former deputy governor Philip Shaibu was impeached by the state house of assembly following the report of an investigative panel.

However, it is worthy to know who the Edo deputy governor truly is.

The new deputy governor is a 38-year-old engineer cum politician.

He contested and lost the 2023 Edo State House of Representatives election.

He contested the election as a candidate of Labour Party (LP), but failed to wing a vote.

Prior to 2023, precisely 2019, as the candidate of LP, he contested the State Houses of Assembly election and lost to Emmanuel Omoladun Agbede of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

He lost without winning a vote from the election.

Born on July 19, 1986, in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area within the Edo North Senatorial District, Omobayo brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, alongside a Master of Science in Public Administration from the esteemed University of Benin (UNIBEN).

A seasoned engineer with a distinguished career in the oil and gas sector, Omobayo currently works as a Senior Maintenance Engineer at Dresser Wayne West Africa Limited.

He is affiliated with engineering bodies such as the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
