Lagos Times is reporting that His Royal Majesty, Oba Idowu Abiodun Oniru, the Oniru of Iruland has passed on.
According to the report, the monarch passed on today Monday, September 23.
Though his death is yet to be officially announced by his family, it is believed that they will inform the public soon.
The monarch was 82 years old when he died, having celebrated his 80th birthday in an elaborate ceremony two years ago.
The shindig to celebrate the 80th birthday of the now-deceased monarch was a classic affair with guests from far and near in attendance.
Originally born on September 6th, the celebration started a few days before with a 3-day celebration commencing with a Cultural Day, a Thanksgiving and the big party which held on Wednesday, September 6th.
Born in 1937 when Oniru Palace was at Igbodu, a village within Egbere (native name of Victoria Island), he was influenced by his late father, the Chief Abiodun Oniru, the 13th Oniru of Iruland.
