A Lagos-based philanthropist identified as Ikechukwu Simeon Ebelebe has been killed by kidnappers.

He was said to have been killed after the kidnappers collected N10m ransom.

The deceased was kidnapped three weeks ago in his hometown, Owerre-Akokwa in Ideato-North LGA of Imo State during the Easter holidays.

Late Ebelebe owned an NGO, “Divine Iyke Foundation for Humanity”, which cares for the elderly, orphans, students and needy.

One Chukwuebuka Ifeanyichukwu, confirmed the sad development in a Facebook post on Sunday, May 7, 2023.

“Creating a MONSTER that will consume you. Few years ago, I wrote against the mayhem, crisis and atrocities that will befall Igbo land if we keep applauding the atrocities happening in the name of fighting for freedom. Some of u abused me but today I’m at the edge watching and nodding my head in pain. Igbo land is gradually turning to something else. Lives are lost on daily basis. People can’t move around freely without fear of the unknown.

“It was on Friday 5th of May, as I was discharged from the hospital,I got home to rest when my phone rang with a heartbreaking news that they have found your body lifeless.

“It was during Easter season u traveled to our home town Akokwa for your normal charitable and evangelical support. As usual u have many people u take care of Orphans, students under scholarships, widows, free medical services and many other good deeds u do for people in need. My heart bleeds MY BELOVED BROTHER ( that’s what u call me). What will be the fate of all the people under your care? Their mentor and the lord they know is no more.

“Who did you offend by traveling to your own village? The next story we heard was that you have been abducted, the abductors collected a huge ransom ( very huge one up to 10). We waited for your return for weeks but no news only for you to be seen as a dead man.

“I’m dumbfounded. Lack words to express my feelings. May your mur_derer$ meet their Waterloo so soon Jee nke oma Mr. Ikechukwu Simeon Ebelebe aka divine iyk”
