The Islamic State has taken responsibility for the attack on the convoy of Borno State Governor Kassim Shettima.

Shettima’s convoy was attacked on Wednesday, February 13, while on his way to a rally in Yobe state.

The governor’s motorcade was attacked by sect members who opened fire on his convoy, killing three persons.

In a statement released on its Amaq News Agency, the sect claimed 42 people were killed in the attack. However, government officials have given the number of dead people from the attack as being between three and 10 people. They also maintain that there may have been some people who might have been beheaded.
