Nigerians have reacted to a call by lawmaker, Wale Ahmed to corps members to stay in any state they are posted to.

Ahmed (APC-Lagos) advised prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to stop attempts to influence their postings and show a sense of duty to Nigeria.

He emphasised the importance of serving in various parts of the country to gain a holistic life experience.

Speaking in Abuja on Monday, October 9, Ahmed underlined the need for the Federal Government to fortify critical institutions, including security infrastructure and the NYSC programme.

Ahmed called on governments at all levels to prioritise adequate security measures, provide essential social amenities, and increase the monthly stipends and allowances of NYSC members.

Reacting to the charge to corp members by the lawmaker, activist, Aisha Yesufu and others said that no body should be forced to go to where they don’t want to go to as the government cannot assure them of their safety.
