Indian Hemp: Seun Kuti Slammed For Criticizing Police

Singer, Seun Kuti, has been criticized for slamming the police over the arrest of a drug peddler.
Men of the Ogun state police command had arrested Daniel Elimuya who was found with 17 sacks of Indian hemp.
Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who paraded the suspect before newsmen, said he was arrested after policemen at the Ibafo Division got a tipoff that a car filled with the banned substance was on its way from Delta State and heading to Lagos.
“At about 6:30 p.m, the team sighted the Ford car with registration number GGE 782 EX and stopped it. On searching the vehicle, 17 sacks of Indian hemp were discovered. The driver, one Daniel Elimuya, was promptly arrested’, he said
The police spokesperson said on interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a long-time Indian hemp distributor and that the consignment he was carrying was meant to be delivered to one “Kofo” in Lagos Island.
Reacting to the arrest, Seun Kuti, criticized the police, adding that it was typical of them to make such meaningless arrest, while those responsible for crimes like armed robbery and kidnapp are not arrested. Interestingly, he told the police to stay away from Indian hemp.
Seun wrote:
Police arrest man with 17 bags of Indian hemp- UNA POLICE YEYE O, NA DIS KIND ARREST WE GO SEE UNA, BUT WEN DEM DEY ROB, KIDNAP AND KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE FOR HIGHWAYS AND DER HOMES WE NO DEY SEE UNA. ABEG MKE UNA LEAVE OUR “EWE RERE” ALONE O https://t.co/DifDDC93jI
