An attempt by hoodlums to facilitate a jail break at Ikoyi Correctional Center, Lagos State has been brought under control.
This much was revealed by the Federal Ministry of Interior.
Recall that a part of the Correctional Center had gone up in flame as an attempt at a jail break was made on Thursday, October 22.
However, a team of Army and Police officers drafted to the prison premises for an intervention operation brought the situation under control.
In a tweet posted this afternoon, the Ministry said the situation has been brought under control.
”The situation at the Ikoyi Custodial Centre is under control! Armed squad of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Civil Defence, Police and and men of the Nigerian Army are providing security at the facility. The Federal Fire Service is dealing with the fire. Ignore rumors of inmate escaping!,” the tweet read.
