I Will Fight For This Mandate Till The End-Peter Obi

The vice presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 presidential election has said that he will fight for his his mandate till the end.

Obi said this in his speech at the 8th stakeholders meeting of Anambra State chapter of the PDP titled,” Repositioning for power and good governance”.

At the event which held in Awka, Obi said he was ready to lay down his life to deliver Nigerians from the hardship witnessed all over the country.

Alleging that every Nigerian now wants to identify with the PDP because they have lost confidence in the ruling APC government, the former Governor of Anambra State added that he is ready to fight for the party’s mandate to its logical conclusion in court.

 

“I am ready to lay down my life to ensure that Nigerians are rescued from the hardship inflicted on them by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government in the country.

“ I will fight for this mandate till the end. The person who is at the helm of affairs today ran for four times and nobody killed him. So, I am not afraid because when PDP was in power it did not kill anybody,” he said.

Recall that the PDP closed its case at the Presidential Election Tribunal in Abuja on Friday, July 10.

Outrage: Seun Onigbinde Resigns

Seun Onigbinde, the Chief Executive Officer of BudgIT, has resigned  his appointment from the government of President Muhhamadu Buhari.

Onigbinde was appointed the technical adviser at the Federal ministry of budget and national planning.

A strong critic of the Buhari government, his appointment has however been heavily criticised.

Explaining the reason behind his resignation, Onigbinde said:

” It is clear that recent media reports about my appointment have created a complex narrative, which I believe would engender an atmosphere of mistrust, as I planned to proceed.

“Upon further reflections on the furore that has been generated by my new role as the Technical Adviser to the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, I humbly resign the appointment.

“I am very grateful to the Honourable Minister, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba, for believing in my expertise and I also thank everyone who sent his or her congratulations to me in the short period. I have also been humbled by the faith and belief that numerous persons have expressed in me,” he wrote partly.

According to Onigbinde,  he expected criticisms following his appointment but did not know it would be this much.

Drunk Police Officer Stabs Nine People In Ondo State

At least ninu people were allegedly stabbed at a club in Akure, Ondo State by a drunk policeman.

The policeman, attached to Area Commander’s office, Akure, allegedly stabbed the victims who were said to be young men at a popular club located at Alagbaka, GRA , Akure, during a brawl that ensued among them.

Eyewitnesses said the policeman who was reportedly drunk, started harassing the victims who had come to relax at the club.

Trouble started when the policeman began pestering and harassing one of the victims.

According to reports, it was so clear that he (Orisadare) was so drunk and was already becoming something else at the club.

“He won’t just listen to those trying to tell him to take things easy. It got to a point that things went awry as he started attacking everyone he could lay his hands on. In total, he stabbed nine people before he could be overpowered,” the source said.

Another source said some of the victims of the attack were currently receiving treatment in various hospitals in Akure, while some were in critical condition.  However, there was no loss of life in the incident.

Police Public Relations Officer, Ondo State Police Command, Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident and stated that everyone involved was engaged in a brawl. He also disclosed that the alleged policeman was also injured in the fight and had been taken to the hospital.

“There was a fight between the policeman and the boys, but we have started investigation into matter. All those involved in the brawl are already in the hospital receiving treatment. But if at the end of the day we find our man culpable, we will deal with him because we don’t tolerate indiscipline in this Command.”

Police Raid New Afrika Shrine***Arrest 28 Miscreants

Not less than 28 miscreants were arrested by policemen attached to the Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences  at the New Afrika Shrine.

Another 15 illegal street traders were also arrested at various locations around Afrika Shrine, Alausa, Ikeja.

This much was disclosed in a statement by the Chairman of the taskforce, Olayinka Egbeyemi.

Egbeyemi said that the raid was necessary due to the nefarious acts within the vicinity of the Afrika Shrine which presented negative image to tourists and residents of Lagos.

“Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit, over the weekend, raided all streets within Central Business District including surroundings of the ‘African Shrine,’ Alausa, Ikeja.

“The enforcement operations became imperative following complaints from members of the public about the criminal activities of miscreants and environmental nuisance of illegal street traders around the Shrine,” he said.

According to the chairman, the night operation was carried out around spots where drugs like Tramadol, Codeine, Skunk, Marijuana, Illegal liquor and assorted food are sold.

“These consumable and non-consumable items are freely sold on the streets in defiance of security agencies and government authority,” he said.

Egbeyemi maintained that the enforcement operations would be a continuous exercise in line with the vision of the present administration to rid the state of street urchins and criminals.
