Nigerian gospel singer, Sammie Okposo is dead.
Okposo, 51, reportedly died in his sleep at his Lekki, Lagos home on Friday morning, November 25.
His project manager, Hillary Vincent, confirmed the news via phone.
Though details of what led to his death are yet unknown, there are no known health issues linked to him.
His close associates including singer Buchi Atuonwu popularly known as Buchi confirmed his death to Channels Television.
His colleague, Righteousman, described his passing as a tragedy, adding that the Welu Welu singer had also collapsed last week, upon his return from his praise party concert in the United Kingdom (UK).
According to him, then, he was treated for exhaustion.
Recall that the singer made headlines early in the year after being dragged by his former lover based in the United States. According to the lover, Okposo impregnated her and asked her to get an abortion.
Having become a topic of public discussion due to the abortion saga, Okposo subsequently apologized to his wife, Ozioma for cheating on her.
In the apology which was shared on his Instagram page, the singer lamented over the incident which he noted happened in 2021.
He also stated that the development had seen him stepping aside from ministerial work until “full restoration.”
