Emerging information has confirmed that ex-ASSU President Dr. Festus Iyayi, was killed by one of the cars in the convoy of governor Idris Wada of Kogi State.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, November 12, along Abuja/ Lokoja road, Kogi State, while the man was on his way for ASUU congress meeting in Kano.
The national body of the union had called for a meeting in Kano to discuss the ongoing strike embarked on by the lecturers and it was while Iyayi was on his way to attend that the accident occurred.
Iyayi’s death no doubt will affect the meeting and subsequent negotiation with the government. Iyayi, was a renowned writer, University lecturer and activist.
