Protesters have taken to the streets of Akure in Ondo State, as they protest in support of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Recall that Governor Akeredolu had given herdsmen a week to vacate the government forest reserves.
However, following a statement by the Presidency chastising the governor, residents in the state took to the street in his support airing their displeasure.
The protesters carrying placards included commercial drivers, members of the Nigeria Forest Services known as Forest guards, farmers, traders, and others.
Speaking during the protest, Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Comrade Jacob Adejo, said commercial drivers were no longer safe in the state.
He said his members need protection as herders attacked them with impunity as well as kidnapped them before now.
