Golden Boy, Abidemi Rufai Falls From Grace, Comes Out As Common Fraudster

Indeed, the rich also cry.
This popular saying has suddenly found meaning in the life of one-time star boy, Abidemi Rufai.
At a time not too long ago, chocolate-complexioned Rufai was the darling of several people both in the social circle of Nigeria and America.
Among entertainers, he was definitely the best there could be as his deep pockets always endeared them to him. So deep were his pockets that he was made a senior special assistant to the Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun.
He drove some of the best wonders on wheels, painting the town red, as he was spotted in choice locations enjoying himself.
Then, suddenly everything changed, the man that many thought was a hard worker turned out to be an ordinary fraudster, having gotten arrested by the government of the United State over a fraud involving over $5,000 in pandemic relief benefits.
The one-time man of the moment was arrested at JFK International Airport in New York as he tried to escape to Nigeria in May 2021, donning a $10,000 watch and $35,000 gold chain.
So deep has Rufai fallen that for the American government to cut him some slack, he pleaded guilty in a U.S. District Court in Tacoma, Washington in May 2022, to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft charges.
So bad has things turned for Rufai that he will have to pay more than $600,000 in restitution to be able to enjoy the privilege of six years in jail.
Indeed, Abidemi Rufai has fallen, and deep too.
