Former ASUU President, Dr. Festus Iyayi is dead

Former Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) President, Dr. Festus Iyayi is dead.
The man died on Tuesday, November 12, in an auto accident along Abuja/ Lokoja road, Kogi State, on his way to an ASUU congress meeting in Kano.
The national body of the union had called for a meeting in Kano to discuss the ongoing strike embarked on by the lecturers and it was while Iyayi was on his way to attend that the accident occurred.
Iyayi’s death no doubt will affect the meeting and subsequent negotiation with the government. Iyayi, was a renowned writer, University lecturer and activist.
