Fake Royal Stallion Rice Hits Lagos Markets

Published

The Royal Stallion brand of rice has become almost synonymous with rice in Nigeria.

So popular is it that it is safe to conclude that any rice seller without the brand in not a serious business person.

Perhaps the success which the brand has recorded is what has seen saboteurs faking the brand and refilling it with Nigerian rice.

While the sharpest of eyes can hardly notice any difference in the bagging of the fake brand, it is the grain in the bag that reveals it has been adulterated.

Speaking with www.theoctopusnews.com, Mary Akintunde revealed how she fell victim of the fake Royal Stallion Rice sellers.

“I went to the market and bought like any housewife would, but it was when I got home that I realized that I had been scammed. What was in the rice was supposed to be imported rice, but it was Nigerian rice that I saw inside. The typical Nigerian rice. I was shocked, but because where I bought it from was very far, I couldn’t return.”

Mrs. Akintunde advised people buying rice especially the Stallion Rice brand to be watchful when buying as the brand name and bag does not signify that it is the original brand anymore.

“The one I bought, they wrote Stallion Rice, Golden Standard, that is what you see in the original one, but it was Nigerian rice I met inside, so I advise anyone buying the brand to be more observant, as it’s fake is in circulation.”
