Days after a viral video alleged to be the convoy of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu driving one-way surfaced, the deputy governor of Lagos state Obafemi Hamzat is receiving commendations for confronting one-way drivers on Carter Bridge.

According to a Twitter post on the handle of the Deputy Governor, he confronted traffic violators driving from Carter Bridge to Mile 2 axis of the state.

According to Hamzat,  he was on his way to deliver a lecture at the Lagos State University (LASU) on Thursday, October 9, when his convoy was faced with unusual traffic at the time.

Further, he stated that after close observation he discovered that motorists were violating traffic rules.

The deputy governor shared pictures of his encounter with the motorists on Twitter.

He urged Lagosians to abide by traffic rules.

“I was on my way to deliver a lecture at @LASUoffical when we were faced with what seemed like unusual traffic at that time,” he wrote.

“On a closer check, we discovered road users going against traffic from Carter Bridge down to Mile 2 axis. Let’s not cause more traffic with disorder.”

This comes just a day after a video allegedly that of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was allegedly spotted driving against traffic.

Meanwhile, Segun Fafore, the media aide to the Governor on October 9, 2019, released a communication that labeled the video of the governor allegedly driving against traffic as fake.

According to Fafore’s statement, “We wish to state that the filmed vehicle was not and can never be Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, or any vehicle in his convoy. His Excellency. Mr. Sanwo-Olu has never and will never drive against traffic for any reason(s) whatsoever. In fact, he has established instructions against such inappropriateness, which guides his aides and associates.’’

While condemning the act of driving against traffic – which is a flagrant abuse of traffic law- Fafore labelled the ‘’narrative of driving against traffic because of gridlock ’’ decorating the governor as ‘’ not only unfounded but a figment of the imagination of the director of the false movie’’.
