2018 was Burna Boy’s finest year, as far as his music career is concerned.

With a couple of hit singles including ‘Ye’ and ‘Gbonna’, the singer rounded off the year with a sold out concert and awards from Soundcity MVP Awards.

To say that he became the darling of the music industry is stating the obvious; hence it didn’t come as a big surprise when he was unveiled as the brand ambassador for Star.

With fans expecting him to release an album this year, the artist has already hit the ground running with his unveiling as a brand ambassador.

While there is no denying the fact that Burna Boy’s fame and influence as an ambassador would rub off on the brand, it is the artist’s unpredictability that has got music pundits thinking?

The rapper’s career has been a tale of several controversies from his younger days to his adult life.

As a teenager, Burna Boy was allegedly banned from entering the United Kingdom for 15 years following a gang-related crime that subsequently saw him “jumping bail” during parole.

As an adult, he has found himself in some questionable situation such as being absent at his own show and not turning up for a paid concert. Burna Boy has also been involved in some celebrated violent incidents including his alleged sponsored beating of Mr. 2Kay. His recent rant at the organisers of the 2019 Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival for printing his name in small fonts appears his most recent controversy, leading to questions of the manner of representation that Star is likely to get from Burna Boy.
