Bola Tinubu Sworn-in As Nigeria’s 16th President

Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been officially sworn-in as the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Tinubu was sworn-in at an event which took place inside the Eagle Square, Abuja today Monday, May 29.

He took the oath of office as it was being administered by the Chief Justice of the Federation, Kayode Ariwoola, alongside his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

Tinubu who won the 2023 presidential election, takes over from ex-President Muhammadu Buhari and will run the affairs of the country for the next four years.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.

The Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu declared Tinubu the winner in Abuja.

Tinubu polled a total votes of 8,794,726 to defeat his closest rival and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar who scored 6,984,520 votes, and Peter Obi of Labour Party (LP), who polled 6,101,533 votes.

The presidential candidate of New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso came fourth with the total votes of 1,496,687 votes.

“I certify that I am the returning officer for the 2023 presidential election held on the 25th of February 2003.

“That Tinubu Bola Ahmed of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner and returned elected. The Certificate of Return to the president-elect and Vice president-elect will take place here at 3pm today,” Yakubu declared.
