Ayodele Fayose Begins March To Ekiti Government House

In his days as Governor of Ekiti State Ayodele Fayose; shinned like a millions stars.

Not even his unceremoniously ouster from the Ado Ekiti Government House could remove the aura that made him respected by his people. However, at a point his public acceptance waned a little, as the crowd which he usually attracted reduced reasonably.

Things however seems set to glint for Fayose again; as he began his march back to the office from which he was sent packing on October 15, 2006, with his recent emergence as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), gubernatorial flag bearer in the forthcoming election.

With a lot of stumbling blocks on his road back to active politics only time will tell if he will smile again, as the Governor of Ekiti State

I Was Treated Like A Common Criminal, Says Ex-Kogi Deputy Governor, Achuba

Simon Achuba, the recently impeached Deputy Governor of Kogi State, has revealed that in the wake of his impeachment, he was placed under house arrest and treated like a common criminal by the powers that be in the state.

Recall that Achuba was impeached by the Kogi State House of Assembly over charges of misconduct brought against him.

Speaking with journalists in on Sunday, October 20, in Lokoja, the state capital, Achuba described his impeachment as an act of lawlessness, adding that lawlessness reigns supreme in Kogi state at the moment.

He said Kogi State was fast degenerating into what he called a ‘Banana Republic.’

Achuba said he was treated like common criminal moments after the State House of Assembly made its pronouncement on Friday, October 19.

According to him, security details attached to him as the state’s number two citizen were withdrawn and others thereafter barricaded his official residence, placing him under “house arrest.”

He revealed that the power supply to his official residence was disconnected and when the technician tried, he was stopped by the newly deployed security agents.

“As I address you, my personal belongings are still there in my official residence. I don’t have access to them,” he told journalists.

Achuba insisted he remains the deputy governor of Kogi, adding that any judge who presides over the swearing-in of another deputy governor in the state would be sanctioning illegality. He there called on the federal government to stop the “lawlessness playing out in Kogi,” saying what is playing out is not good for democracy and rule of law, while expressing optimism of getting justice in the court soon.

Recall that Achuba had been having a running battle with the governor of the state, Yahaya Bello.

Yahaya Bello Nominates Onoja As Deputy Governor

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has nominated Edward Onoja as his Deputy Governor.

This follows the impeachment of his former Deputy Governor, Simon Achuba, by the Kogi state House of Assembly over an alleged gross misconduct.

Onoja’s nomination as Deputy Governor comes two days after he resigned from his position as Govenor Yahaya Bello’s Chief of Staff with Abdulkareem Jamiu appointed to replace him.

Onoja who is the most influential member of the governor’s cabinet is likely to be sworn-in today.

The 44-year-old indigene of Emonyoku Ogugu in Olamaboro local government area of Kogi state, had sought the ticket of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) for a house of assembly seat in 2011. He was also the chief strategist of “Yahaya Bello Campaign Organization” in 2015.

Kogi Deputy Governor Remains Impeached-House Majority Leader, Hassan Abdulahi

The Majority Leader of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hassan Bello Abdulahi, has stated that the state’s Deputy Governor, Simon Achuba remains impeached.

Abdullahi stated this while speaking with journalists on Friday, after Achuba’s impeachment.

Achuba was impeached by the state house of assembly following the submission of a report by a committee set up in August by the state Chief Judge, Justice Nadir Ajana, to investigate an allegation of gross misconduct brought against him.

Achuba had accused Governor Yahaya Bello of withholding his salaries and allowances running into N800m since 2017.

He had also alleged that the state governor was also after his life, adding that he sent gunmen to kill him.

According to the House of Assembly, the claims, allegations, actions, and utterances of the deputy governor amounted to gross misconduct
