Sanusi, moved in hours after the police vacated the palace.

He was led into his new home by armed policemen, friends and other well-wishers.

Sanusi, stepped into the building for the first time since he emerged emir close to a week ago.

He was initially prevented from gaining entry into the palace by security officials who were allegedly acting on instructions from Abuja. The journey to the palace began from the Kano State Government House, Kano.

The new emir, drove into the palace in the official vehicles of the emirate through a newly constructed gate built in his honour as demanded by tradition.

He had earlier led some of his subjects during Juma’at prayers at the state House and subsequently in the evening where prayers were said inside the musque in the palace.
