For some people, a celebration is about spending millions of Naira on an elaborate shindig to intimidate their friends and silence their detractors.

For others, it is about creating an ideal atmosphere for family members and friends to appreciate God for his mercies on the celebrant.

The latter is where Architect Ola Banwo falls. One of the most respected Architects in Nigeria, the man recently turned 60 years old and his family wasted no time in putting together a party to appreciate God for his life.

The colourful event which was held on Sunday, January 1, at the popular Lagos Tea House, Admiralty Road, Lekki, Lagos was indeed classy.

With adequate provisions made for food, drinks, and an equally talented band on the ground, it was a matter of enjoying yourself to the hilt.

Indeed, the organisers of the party did not disappoint as guests had a fun-filled day, as they celebrated with the celebrant who is credited for designing some of the most beautiful edifices in Nigeria.

High points of the celebration included a tribute to Architect Banwo by his younger brother Dr. Ope Banwo, the celebrant’s first son and friends.

A stage performance dedicated to the celebrant by his second son who is a budding musician also took place to the admiration of guests in attendance.

As for souvenirs shared at the party, it was a matter of guests getting one imported gift item after the other, confirming the fact that families and friends did come from far and wide to celebrate the amiable and soft-spoken gentleman.
