***Describes court’ decisions as double victory for Amaechi, APC and Rivers people

As the Appeal Court ruled Monday to restore the rights of candidates on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state to contest this year’s general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been charged to obey the court and list names of the party’s candidates immediately.

Giving the charge in a statement issued and circulated in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, one of the leading voices of the APC in the South-South region of the country, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, also charged the leadership of the party in Rivers state to immediately commence the process of mobilising members of the party as well as the entire state in preparation for the polls

Eze, who further stated that after the Appeal Court sitting in Port Harcourt granted a stay of execution order in favour of the APC, also advised the Rivers state governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, to honourably resign now as governor and withdraw from the governorship race to save himself the shame that comes with loss in an election.

The Appeal Court had on Monday granted a stay of execution order in favour of an application filed by the party, against a High Court decision, which had denied APC the right to feature candidates in all elective contests in Rivers state. The initial application before the High Court was filed by Senator Magnus Abe.

But on Monday, the Appeal Court ordered a stay of execution against the High Court decision, ordering the INEC to list all valid candidates of the APC for the coming elections, a situation that has resuscitated hopes for the participation and likely victory of the party in the February and March elections.

However, Eze in his statement, noted that the Appeal Court decision came as a result of the party members and leaders’s ceaseless prayers, congratulating both the leader of the party in the State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and the governorship candidate of the party, Pastor Tonye Cole, for victory as and the impending rescue of Rivers from bad leadership.

“I am elated that the ruling adds faith to all my statements, through which I have continued to maintain that Rivers State APC will surely participate in the elections and will win to reclaim the state from the hands of those who prefer to spread darkness over a State so blessed by God.

“The next line of action now is for the leadership of our great party to set the motion in play and mobilise all our structures to go into the fields in every nook and cranny of the state, spread the news of hope and development for our state. Our members should all be mobilised to fully hit the ground running, getting ready to cast their votes to free our state from mediocre leadership and bring back the days of progress and positive development in Rivers state.

“With this statement, I also want to advise Governor Nyesom Wike to avoid the disaster that awaits him at the polls and formally resign, but if he prefers to be disgraced at the polls then that is his choice to make”, he said.

Eze reiterated that the unfolding drama had exposed both Governor Wike and the Senator representing Rivers South-East, Senator Magnus Abe, as enemies of democracy, who had all along cloaked their disgust for free democracy, adding that it was their fear of the pedigree of the leader of the party in the State, who is the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and the governorship candidate of the party, Pastor Tonye Cole, that had driven them to the extreme point of attempting to muzzle Justice and murdering the nation’s criminal justice system. To God be all the glory for ensuring that the plots of these enemies of democracy didn’t see the light of the day.

“Once again the Judiciary has proven that it is the bastion of hope for the common man and today will go on record as the day when a new Rivers state was born”, he said.

Eze while reacting to Senator Magnus Abe’s statement on the outcome of the Appeal Court ruling described it as most unfortunate, sad, devilish and promotion of politics of bitterness and hatred.  He counselled the Senator to retrace his steps and save the State from further negative posture and see how he can save his political career and those he lured into his misadventure venture.

He congratulated the leader of the party in the South-South, Rt. Hon Amaechi, who is also the Minister of Transportation and DG of the PMB Campaign Organisation, Pastor Tonye Cole and all the party’s faithful and urged all and sundry not to relent until Wike and his government are shoved out of Rivers state accordingly.
