Adieu Adeola Razaq Jikoji

Indeed, nothing is guaranteed in life like death.

But when a kind-hearted man dies in a controversial circumstance, it leaves in his wake sorrow and tears.

This is what has befallen popular Lagos socialite and businessman, Chief Adeola Razaq Jikoji.

Chief Jikoli, who was recently nominated as the traditional ruler of Badore by the Jikoji family was shot dead by unknown gunmen on Sunday, April 26.

The late Chief Jikoli had been nominated to replace the former Baale, Saliu Muraina Jikoji, who died in June 2020.

However, trouble erupted after another candidate said to have been nominated by some group of persons who claimed to be the kingmakers of the town surfaced.

The new candidate was allegedly granted a certificate by the Eti-Osa Local Government, as the Baale of Badore, without authorisation from the state government.

The situation thus led to a tussle between the candidates; however, it is unclear if the battle for who eventually becomes the Baale of Badore was what led to Chief Jikoji’s death
