The Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams has expressed his support for the quit notice issued to herdsmen by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to vacate Ondo State forest reserves within a week.

Recalls that Akeredolu had on Monday, January 18, given herdsmen a 7-day ultimatum to quit all forest reserves in Ondo state

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, Adams insists that the state has constitutional rights to give quit notice to illegal residents.

The Yoruba leader stated this while reacting to the presidency’s statement where Mallam Garba Shehu faulted Akeredolu, adding that he should not act outside his constitutional powers.

He explained that the reason the state government took the decision was that the presidency failed to address Nigeria’s security situation.

According to him, the presidency is apparently not aware of what forest reserves mean. He went on to explain that the area is not accessible except by authorised personnel.

He added that aside from that the forest reserves meaning a haven of safety for protected animals against poachers it is a place for valued cash trees.
