Presidency Reveals When Buhari Will Sack Service Chiefs Over Insecurity

The call for the sack of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Service Chiefs might soon see the light of the day.
Speaking on when the Service Chiefs will be sacked, Presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said only the President can decide when to make changes in the appointment of service chiefs.
Shehu reportedly said this on Sunday, January 10, adding that Nigerians should allow the president to make the changes whenever he deems appropriate to do so.
He stated that Buhari has kept the current security chiefs in office because he sees what Nigerians do not see.
Shehu explained that the military commanders serve at the pleasure of the president, noting that there is no part of the law stipulating their tenure of service.

He said: “It is not a tenured appointment. There is no part of the law that says Chief of Army Staff must serve for two years. Then, after two years, he must go.
“He serves at the pleasure of the president. Now, the president has said again he will make changes. When will he make those changes? It is entirely up to him. I think Nigerians should give him the benefit of the doubt.”
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai has told applicants seeking to serve in the army that they must be ready to move to Sambisa forest at the end of their training.
Buratai stated this on Monday, January 11, adding that the recruits should be ready to serve their country anywhere they are deployed as a soldier.
He made the disclosure at Falgore forest training camp during the final screening for 80 regular recruits in Kano state.
