Why Songwriters Are Not Recognised In Nigeria-Oritsefemi

Oritsefemi has explained why songwriters are not accorded their due respect in Nigeria.
The singer blamed the situation on the nonexistence of an ideal platform for songwriters.
“Having a platform like that is going to help songwriters, but is there any platform in existence for these songwriters? That is what we should be talking about because presently it is all about the artistes, maybe the producer, but the songwriters need to have their platform, so it doesn’t look like they are not getting value for their effort.
“There have been a lot of ghostwriters developing underground, but there is a need for them to be recognised.”
The controversial issue of musicians denying songwriters’ credit for their work has been a topical one in the Nigerian music industry.
