***Backs Police Probe in Akinloye, Agboworin Murder Cases

The Ajiran Elite Troupe Foundation has rejected claims made by a civil society organisation (CSO) over the arrest of Ahmed Akanbi, insisting that ongoing investigations into the murders of Prince Ademola Akinloye and Sheriff Salami Agboworin are lawful and unrelated to any land or chieftaincy disputes.

In a statement issued by its secretary, Adesanya Yusuf, the Ajiran Elite Troupe said a media report dated April 18, 2026, misrepresented the circumstances surrounding the case and attempted to divert attention from what it described as “serious criminal allegations.”

The group maintained that the killings of Akinloye in 2023 and Agboworin in 2024, both within the Eti-Osa axis of Lagos State, were clear cases of murder that should not be politicised or linked to unrelated issues.

“It is important to set the record straight. This matter has no connection whatsoever to land disputes or kingship matters. These are cases of multiple murders and must be treated with the seriousness they deserve,” the statement said.

The Ajiran Elite Troupe also criticised the CSO’s intervention, questioning its priorities and role in the matter. It argued that civil society groups are expected to advocate for victims and ensure accountability, rather than promote narratives that could undermine ongoing investigations.

According to the statement, both victims were killed in broad daylight, leaving behind grieving families, including widows and young children. The group said these families deserved justice and support, urging stakeholders not to lose sight of their plight.

On legal developments, the Ajiran Elite Troupe disclosed that an ex parte order was filed on March 30, 2026, and granted on April 10, 2026, by the Federal High Court in Suit No. FHC/L/MISC/402/2026. The order reportedly includes a warrant of arrest for Alhaji Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi to ensure his appearance for investigation and possible prosecution over allegations of conspiracy and murder.

It added that the court order empowers relevant authorities, including international law enforcement agencies, to act where necessary. The group further noted that Akanbi’s legal representatives were aware of the judicial process.

While acknowledging the role of civil society organisations in promoting accountability, the foundation described the claims in the publication as “misleading, speculative, and lacking substantiation.”

It stressed that there was no attempt to intimidate any individual or group, but rather a collective expectation that the Nigeria Police would conduct a thorough and impartial investigation.

The Ajiran Elite Troupe concluded by urging the public to allow law enforcement agencies to carry out their duties without interference, adding that the process could also provide an opportunity for the accused to clear his name.

“Justice for one is justice for all. The police should be allowed to do their job in the interest of truth and fairness,” the statement added.
