Mary Remmy Njoku has raised the alarm over the ineffectiveness of Nigerian drugs.

The actress shared an experience on her Instagram Page during which she called out Nigeria’s pharmaceutical system.

According to her, the experience she had with a medication left her both frustrated and concerned for public health.

The filmmaker revealed she suffered a bout of food poisoning while on set and sent a staff member to buy Imodium, a well-known drug used to treat diarrhea, from one of Nigeria’s biggest pharmacy chains.

Njoku noted that despite taking the medication consistently for three days, she said her symptoms didn’t improve. Shockingly, it only took one dose of the same Imodium — but this time from abroad — to calm her

“Then my husband returned from a trip and gave me a tiny tablet of the same Imodium. This time from abroad. I took it, and within five minutes, my stomach calmed down.”

Njoku, visibly disturbed by the difference in effectiveness, questioned the quality of drugs being sold to Nigerians and tagged NAFDAC (Nigeria’s food and drug regulatory agency) to look into the matter urgently.
