Operatives of the Abuja Police Command have arrested Sijibomi Ogundele, the boss of Sujimoto Homes.
According to a report by Punch Newspapers, the flamboyant Ogundele was arrested over a massive $325,000 fraud.
The Punch Newspaper reports that the Lagos socialite and Sujimoto Home boss, currently embroiled in a shocking fraud case was recently detained at the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) in Abuja.
The report noted that though the high-profile businessman was detained, he was later released on bail.
Ogundele’s arrest followed a petition from human rights lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi who accused Ogundele of swindling a staggering $325,000 from one Kabiru Ibrahim. The allegations date back to November 5, 2020, when Ogundele allegedly convinced Ibrahim to make a hefty down payment for what was promised to be a luxurious three-bedroom flat in the upscale Leonardo estate—a property that was supposedly worth $750,000!
In the explosive petition, obtained exclusively by our sources, Olajengbesi detailed how Ogundele lured his client with flashy brochures and enticing offers. “Mr. Sijibomi Ogundele approached our client and fraudulently represented himself and the company,” the document states. “He offered to sell one unit of a three-bedroom flat at the estate, claiming that if our client paid 50% upfront, the total price would be reduced to $650,000!”
According to the petition, Ibrahim took the bait and paid $325,000, which was acknowledged by Sujimoto Construction Limited. However, as time passed, Ibrahim was left in the dark—no construction updates, no property in sight, and certainly no sign of his investment!
Commenting on the petition and Ogundele’s arrest, police spokesperson DSP Funmi Eguaoje confirmed that Ogundele had been released after an “interview.” “He came on invitation yesterday but they couldn’t resolve the matter then,” Eguaoje explained. “They called them in for an interview today, and now he’s going home!”
According to the report by Punch Newspaper, attempts to reach Ogundele’s lawyer, Kenny Umenyi, hit a dead end, as a call to him was reportedly abruptly cut off after the reporter introduced himself. Also, there was no response to the text message sent to the lawyer.
