30 CSOs Stage Counter-Protest Against Sowore’s Coalition

A counter-protest has been launched gainst #RevolutionNow movement.

Organised by a group identified as The Democracy Watch Africa, it is an umbrella body of over 30 civil society organisations in West Africa.

Members of the group took to the streets in Lagos on Monday, August 5, and headed to the seat of power in Alausa as they called for caution over the planned protest by the coalition led by Omoyele Sowore and others.

Addressing news men, Josephine Okpara, one of the leaders of the group, read a speech in which she demanded for the expulsion of Amnesty International. The protesters kicked against the #RevolutionNow, aaccusing the organisers of acting against the interest of Nigeria and its citizens.

They lamented that the #RevolutionNow protesters were acting “under the active support of some external forces that are bent on destabilising the country.

The protesters called for the expulsion of Amnesty International Source: UGC “The planned protest is a grave misdemeneur that must be viewed from the prism of treason against the Nigerian nation as there are from all indications no justification whatsoever to warrant such despicable act under whatever guise,” the group said.
