2023: Okowa, Obi Disagree Over Way Forward For Nigeria

Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the vice presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ifeanyi Okowa have disagreed over the present need of Nigerians.

Speaking during a town hall meeting on Arise Television on Sunday, November 6, Obi, said is administration as governor of Anambra State emerged number one in education; health, and some key areas in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs); particularly by saving money to carry out key projects.

Obi said: “I never borrowed for eight years. I have not been invited by anyone to question me over anything.

“I never owed gratuity or pension. But I left over N50 billion for my state. I never borrowed but saved faithfully.”

However, countering him, Okowa, said there is too much scarcity of money hence no need to save but spend.

The Delta governor, went further to say that Nigeria cannot save when the country needs money for critical projects.

He said: “Nigeria cannot save any money when we need for investment, to create employment and ensure unemployed youths do not resort to insecurity.”
